Why We Exist

The UK's economic crime system is inadequate in proportion to the harm. It remains fragmented, chronically underfunded in some parts, vastly expensive in others, and insufficiently effective. Despite political commitment and steady progress on this issue, the threat is not declining.

The Latimer Network exists to bring experts together across sectors in order to support better-informed decisions, better policies, and more effective implementation – helping the UK achieve more, faster, in the fight against illicit finance.

How We Work

Impact on illicit finance depends on genuine partnership and trust across sectors. Trust comes from understanding different interests and finding where they overlap. The Latimer Network creates the conditions where the right people develop enough mutual understanding to move things forward together.

What We Do

Convene

We bring people together across sectors to build relationships, find common ground, and tackle problems none of them can solve alone.

Analyse

We get under the bonnet of complex problems, drawing on technical expertise from every sector to produce action-oriented analysis and workable proposals.

Drive Change

We navigate the bureaucratic and political system so that good ideas reach the right people at the right time and become real action.

What Makes Us Different

This is a network that does things.

  • We have ideas, we have the expertise to test, develop and refine them, and we have the relationships and system knowledge to help make them happen. We bridge the gap between technical expertise and policy change - not just generating proposals, but knowing how to pull the right levers to get them adopted.
  • We are the only cross-sector initiative on economic crime that has no commercial agenda, is fully independent, and exists purely to drive positive action in the public interest. We don't need to own every collaboration or claim credit for every result.
  • Every sector benefits. Government gets streamlined external expert input; the private sector and gets a space to engage on important issues with government; civil society gets a seat at the table. Everyone gets access to relationships and perspectives they wouldn't otherwise have.
